Frequently Asked Questions

Getting started with Alpaca

Can I automate Alpaca trades from TradingView alerts?
Yes. Connect your Alpaca account to Autoview, then add an Autoview command to a TradingView alert or any webhook. When the alert fires, Autoview reads the command and places the order on Alpaca for you, with no manual step.
Which markets can I trade on Alpaca through Autoview?
Alpaca gives you US stocks and crypto, and Autoview can automate orders across them. Your alerts can place those trades the same way you would by hand.
Can I test Autoview on an Alpaca paper-trading account first?
Yes, if you have an Alpaca Paper account. Select "Alpaca Paper" in Autoview and your orders route to Alpaca's paper-trading endpoint instead of your live account. The commands are identical to live trading, so nothing about your setup changes except the account.

Alpaca order types

Does Autoview support stop-loss and take-profit orders on Alpaca?
Yes. You can attach a stop-loss and a take-profit to a bracket order so they go in with your entry, and Autoview can also place a standalone stop or limit order to protect or close an open position.
Can Autoview place trailing stops on Alpaca?
Yes. Alpaca supports trailing stops, and Autoview can place one for you, so your stop follows the price as the trade moves in your favor.
Can I send an entry with its stop-loss and take-profit in a single alert?
Yes. One Alpaca alert can carry the entry plus its stop-loss and take-profit as a bracket order, and Autoview also supports OCO and OTO brackets, so the whole set is placed together.

Platform and security

Does Autoview run Alpaca in the cloud, or do I need the Chrome extension?
Both work for Alpaca. The cloud webhook platform runs your automation on its own, so nothing needs to stay open on your computer. If you would rather execute on your own device, the Chrome extension can run Alpaca too.
How does Autoview keep my Alpaca API credentials secure?
You connect with your Alpaca API Key ID and Secret Key, and Autoview stores them encrypted. They are used only to place the orders you trigger, and they are never written into your alerts.
