Your Exchange/Integration information
When using the Autoview.com Trading Extension, the private information you save (API keys, passwords, tokens) is stored locally on your machine. To ensure your trading credentials are safe, here are several tips:
- Ensure that you do not have too many Chrome Extensions installed. Keep them up-to-date.
- Ensure that you do not visit websites you are unsure of. Especially when downloading anything.
- Locking your computer* when not in use or (when not trading) shut your computer down.
Installation warnings
Certain applications (such as Antivirus) or other security related programs may cause interesting interactions.
For example, below is an example of installing the Autoview extension with Norton Private Browser.
A) Check the URL to ensure the identifier matches: hjjeplacckkpgfcmgpcnlpmabddkeioi
B) Our use of Web Sockets to ensure real-time communication requires us to "Read and change all your data on all websites". I understand the risks is required to enable the next step.
C) Install anyway is a nice way of saying, I have double-checked that this is the Autoview Trading Extension.
Note: More information regarding the installation process can be found in our How to install the Trading Extension article.
* Locking your computer
There are several Operating Systems out there today, here are a few ways to lock your machine when not in use:
- Windows: Windows Key + L
- Mac: Command+ Control + Q
- Linux: CTRL + ALT + L
Although having to retype your (secure) password every time you revisit the machine may be an inconvenience, a cat walking on the keyboard may not be your reversal signal.
